Sydney Stats - ONE YEAR

I was so caught up with Sydney's Roseola, I didn't update her stats. Without further ado, here's how she's growing.

Weight: 18 lbs, 4 oz (35th percentile)
Height: 27.5 inches (5th percentile)

I'm actually not super confident in the numbers. The week before she weighed 19 1/2 pounds, so I know she lost a pound being sick. And, she was wiggling so much when they were taking her height so I think she *could* be slightly taller. Either way, she's growing!

We are really working with Sydney to get off the bottle. Her daycare is ready to move her up to the one year old room but she has to be off the bottle. They already have her sleeping on a cot and eating their meals (breakfast, lunch and snack) but she still takes some bottles which is a no-no in the ones. She's doing pretty good. We also are working with her on silverware, but obviously we've got a LONG way to go! :)

This week went by so quick!
We painted a card for grandma since it was her birthday!

We had friends over for smores in the new fire pit!

We had plenty of sticks to roast the marshmallows--Madeline gathered them all for us!

We took the girls to the library on Saturday morning.
Sydney did some puzzles (she's SO advanced!)

Maddie picked out a bunch of new books.

And played at the train table.

While my parents are off celebrating my mom's birthday, tia came to spend the weekend with us. This has made Madeline VERY happy.

Zoo Day!

On Sunday, we woke up to a beautiful morning. We decided a trip to the zoo was in order. It was one of the best zoo days I've had in a long time! We got there early and basically had the place to ourselves. The animals were very active and the girls had a great time!

This rhino was running laps around his friend.

Sydney girl on the move!

We got tons of close ups!

This guy sat up there forever.

Just enjoying the day.

Maddie in front of the grizzly bear.

Love this of my ladies. The polar bear had a frisbee and was putting on a show jumping in and out of the water. The girls just watched him swim.

We took a playground break.

And, ended up the day with a train ride!

 A fun family morning!

Roseola

Last Saturday, we had Sydney's party. On Sunday, we had lunch at my aunts with my mom's side of the family. As always, it was a great time!

Sydney sitting with great grandma--she leaves for Florida next month.

Grandma and great-grandma

We took Sydney out on the golf cart!

Preston wanted to play a game of kick ball so we got everyone outside.

Connor rolled.

Madeline hadn't played before so I ran with her a few bases.

Then she was all set to round for home herself!

We ended up leaving early because Sydney still didn't feel well. I had given her advil and we couldn't get her fever down. She slept for four hours that afternoon.

When she woke up, she was MISERABLE. I tried to take her to the Immediate Care Center but they had 8 people in front of us, and only one doctor. So Kosair it was. After poking and prodding, they sent us home with a "virus" diagnosis. (Those are the worst!)

On Monday, Sydney she seemed to be in recovery mode and slept most of the day, but without a fever. We sent her to school Tuesday. When I picked her up she had a weird looking rash all over her stomach.

It turns out Sydney had a nasty little virus called Roseola.  One of those things daycare kids get. Fortunately, the rash is the end of the virus and kids are no longer contagious.

I actually took a "me" day on Tuesday and took the day off work. I had a dentist appointment in the afternoon and decided to take the whole day off. I went to the outlet mall and had a fantastic, quiet lunch.

This happened.
I ate by myself at the taco place and just enjoyed the quiet. And the tacos! YUM.

On Wednesday, the girls I went to the pediatrician for Sydney's one year check-up. She was feeling better, and then we gave her her shots. So, she was mad again.
Like I hadn't already had a bad week. Thanks a lot!

Now that Sydney is healthy, the girls and I have been out and about.

We biked to grandma and grandpa's one night and they had a new dollhouse for Madeline. She loved it!

We took the jeep on the open road!

Summit playground!

Maddie thinks it's hilarious to wear my boots around. She can barely walk but she laughs and laughs as she clomps.

This was on Friday. I had just taken off Sydney's pajamas and was about to get her dressed. She had a little BM and felt compelled to (immediately) climb on the table and sit on Madeline's artwork. She was so mad! She turned and said, "Now I have poop paper, mom!"
That Sydney. She really is rotten. Good thing she's so sweet.

The Show Must Go On...

When I found out Sydney was due in September, I was JAZZED at the thought of finally getting to have a summer birthday! I imagined a fun outdoor event at our house with friends and family and lots of warm sunshine. I did NOT imagine a cloudy 50 degree day with a sick Sydney.

Let's backtrack. On Thursday I dressed up the sweet girl and had this Pinterest idea to take pictures of her with the letters spelling 'one.' She was Miss Crabbypants and refused to smile or pose for us.

Yep. I had to take a picture only because she was SO mad. (And she's really not a fussy kid, so I should have known something was up.)

We tried once more in the house.
Nope.

Friday she was a little meh, but not too terrible. On Saturday, her actual birthday, she woke up warm and grumpy. Like, super grumpy. And, when we went outside to set up the inflatable water slide, we discovered it was cold. Like, super cold.

Chris wanted to call the party off, but I knew we could not. The show must go on! Even though we couldn't get out the slide, we still had a great time.

Sydney took the first hit at the pinata. I think she used her hairbrush.

Then, Hudson was up!

Maddie took a swing!

And Dane!

Then Rolfe!

We kept going and going until the pinata exploded. The kids went wild!

Sydney laughed at the chaos. Yes, she's carrying a hairbrush around. Which, is completely ironic, considering she doesn't have any hair. But, it made her happy. And it was her birthday, and she was sick, so hairbrush it was.

Madeline showing off her loot!

TIME for a song and cupcake! (and the hairbrush again)

Why are all of these people staring at me and singing?!

Not sure.

LOVE IT.

What? No, I didn't eat mine yet.

Our family.

Beautiful birthday girl!

The kids really wanted to do the water balloon fight, and I really didn't want to hang on to 200 water balloons so they went outside and got in position.

The water balloon fight was hilarious. The kids had a great time. Us adults just laughed as they ran around screaming. I had filled up more than 200 water balloons (thanks tia for the help!) but they went quick. Madeline asked me if I could fill up a million for next time. Um, no.

Who am I going after?

Dane!

I'll do it. Don't think I won't.

Going after their target together.

Mercedes got a little ganged up on.

Don't mess with my tia!

No water balloons for me. I'm too smart for that cold nonsense!

Sydney got a lot of great presents.

We had so much fun celebrating our little Sydney turning ONE. We are so grateful to our friends and family for coming to celebrate with us!
