Final Four! And a little photoshoot with tia!

On Saturday, Maddie and daddy spent the morning together. They went and looked at lawn mowers and then to Barnes and Noble for story time. Here's Maddie doing her new fave, Little Teapot. Obviously, she's not totally ready to commit here though, since she stayed seated. :)

On Sunday, I took the girls out while Chris worked on the cabinets. Maddie and I had a Panera picnic in the car while Sydney napped.

My parents watched the girls for us while we watched the CATS game with some friends.

The game was INTENSE. Back and forth. Back and forth.
First, we watched intensely.

Then we celebrated!!
I tried to take more pictures but everyone was jumping up and down so they are all blurry!

CATS ARE HEADED TO THE FINAL FOUR! Party at the Hughes house Saturday night!

I did go get the girls right after so Tara could get her baby snuggles in.

Looking forward to a great week! Dane and Quinn are coming to town so Maddie is excited about some cousin time.

Me and my girls

When I'm at home with Madeline and Sydney, I find that I usually say something to the effect of: "just me and my girls." Or, "how did I get so lucky to have you two sweet girls." Madeline usually just laughs at me or doesn't say anything....but, you know kids....ALWAYS LISTENING.

The other day she told me she HAD to take two babies in the car with her. After she buckled in she said, "Look mom. Just me and my girls!"
Funny kid.

Sydney had her official 6 month check-up!  I love this picture of the two girls waiting on the doctor.
(more to come on Sydney's stats and the ped visit).

Contrary to what you may think, Sydney DID NOT eat another baby for breakfast.
I think she had pears.

We had gymnastics.  Maddie was the only one in her class who could walk backwards on the beam with no help!

Given the mediocre season our beloved CATS had, it was a great surprise that we were in the Sweet 16 playing our in-state rival. We had some friends over to watch the game. The game was super late for this mommy of two, BUT it was kind of nice at the same time. We got the kiddos to bed and then could relax (and, by relax I mean scream at the tv).

Stella was so jazzed about the company.

The game was WILD. I so wish I had taken a picture of the group the last 2 minutes. We were all pacing around the basement yelling. Then when we won we went NUTS.  It's already been decided we're having another viewing party...our house is the lucky house! We all watched the championship here two years ago....maybe a 2014 repeat?

This morning the kids got up, had breakfast and then watched a Berenstain Bears, before Hudson left for home.

Maddie and Chris are out looking at lawn mowers and I'm relaxing in my jammies. We were up late and up early, so I'm tired! And, because it's freezing, I leave you with this.

Have a great weekend!

The many faces of Sydney!

Sydney is becoming more and more expressive and it's really funny!

Yay! The CATS beat Wichita State!!

What? Now we have to play Louisville? Sigh.

Have you ever eaten a red block? LOVE IT!

I thought mom was feeding me my favorite, squash with cinnamon, but she put carrots on the spoon. EEE.

I think my sister is having more fun than me.

Also NOT squash with cinnamon. When will I get more of that?

My parents and tia got the girls lot of goodies from Disney World, including a Minnie Mouse outfit for Maddie. She looks soooo sweet in it.

I'll have to take another picture with better lighting.

On Saturday, I went to a baby shower for my friend Taryn who is expecting baby Rhett in a few months.

Saturday night, nana offered to watch the girls so Chris and I could have date night. YES, PLEASE! We had a yummy dinner at Martini's and then dessert at Graeter's!

We had a relatively nice Sunday and grilled burgers. Yummy asparagus!

Madeline chose lunch for us Sunday and picked a quesadilla, black beans and guacamole from Qdoba for herself. YUM!

She was serious about the CATS game. Which was super close and a lot scary!

Looking forward to a great week! Happy Monday!

Teething...

So, I have decided I know nothing about teething. When Maddie was a baby and she would get cranky, I would tell people she was teething. I did this on and off for a full YEAR! That's because she didn't get any teeth until her first birthday!

I was CERTAIN Sydney was teething about a month ago. Lots of drool, hands in the mouth, cranky....well one month later and we're still all gums! Maybe she will get them late like her sis...I guess we will figure it out!

In the meantime, she's all about some cereal!

Big sis likes cereal too--her faves are Special K and Cheerios with strawberries and bananas.

On Wed night, Maddie and I went to DQ for an ice cream date. She got her usual-vanilla in a bowl.

Then she saw what I had bought to take home to Chris...and decided they were sharing!

On Friday we went to the library for story hour! I told Maddie to get some practical shoes on. She chose gladiator sandals.

Because nothing says practical like a silver wedge shoe.

We stayed for both sessions. The second one was a special day because some zoo docents came!

And they brought a snake...
Maddie and I touched him. EEEE.

Then they got out a hedgehog and hissing cockroach--Maddie touched everything!

Sydney passed on the touching. She slept for a bit and then sat in my lap the rest of the time!

As for Chris, he's on to the next project--book shelves in our living room! They are coming along nicely!

Our day with Stella Murph and a little Zoo time!

On Thursday, there was a 5k in our neighborhood. One of my co-workers was running so we went outside to cheer him on.

Maddie held her hand out and loved when the runners high - fived her!

On Friday, Madeline's daycare was closed. Maddie's best school bud, Stella "Murph" (Murphy) came over to play!

Within ten minutes they had changed clothes and were being silly little three year olds!

Sydney just watched their chaos.

For lunch they requested grilled cheese sandwiches and bananas. They had a picnic in the living room and watched a Berenstain Bears. (Side note: seriously the cutest shows ever. I love them.)

I even got them to nap!
Ok, so...this was what I imagined in my head. After about 30 minutes of playing I separated them. BUT, they still both slept!

It was a little windy but we got to play outside a bit too!

On Saturday we met up with Hudson at the zoo.

When Danielle and I were college room mates, we would walk out of our rooms wearing the same clothes at least twice a week. We're talking same shirt, same shoes, same fleece, etc. So, it was hysterical to us when Maddie and Hudson showed up at the zoo wearing green and white striped tees!

My sister and parents are in Disney World. We wish we were too!
