Rolfe's Party and Dinner with Dane!

I looked at Maddie the other day and just couldn't believe how big she was. She is getting to be such a little lady. She LOVES helping me and is very sweet to her sister and friends. (most of the time.)

 She likes to feed her.

On Friday, the girls and I headed to Ten Pin for Rolfe's 5th birthday party. It was a Super Hero party, but my girls broke the rules a little and went as Princesses.

Maddie had never bowled before so I had to teach her how to roll her ball down the lane.

I asked her to smile and she gave me this face. 

She gave the ball a BIG push. TEN minutes later, it made it to the pins. :)

She was super concerned about her pink ball until I told her where the ball return was.

Since Maddie couldn't get up enough speed on her own, they brought 

out this little neat contraption for her.

Then we had some pizza!

Then cake!

Sydney and I observed. 

We came home, took a little rest, then got ready for dinner with nana, grandpa, Dane and Quinn. Maddie looked so sweet I just had to take a few photos.

Lesson learned!

On Friday, I took my little lovelies to the mall. At some point, my key fell apart and the electronic chip fell out. This meant my car wouldn't start. It was nearing nap time and Sydney was getting 

CRANK-KAY so I was so happy daddy could leave work to come rescue us!

This is dire y'all. I'm starving!

Once Chris got to the mall with my spare key, I actually ended up retracing my steps and found my electronic chip. Now I'll be taping that sucker up!

Other than that small mishap, we had a great weekend!

We played Hide Go Seek with Tia, Maddie's current favorite game. They were easy to find though because SOMEONE kept giving their spot away.

On Saturday we headed to Lexington so that I could go to DanceBlue. I've written about DB before, and it's something so near to my heart I'm fortunate I can attend it. The students raised 1.4 MILLION this year! How incredible! 

While I was at DanceBlue, Chris took the girls to visit Dane and Quinn.

Maddie was so excited to visit her cousins--she just loves them!

On Sunday, we went to play with Hudson. FINALLY! The Fertig's have been sick the last few weekends so Maddie desperately needed some Hudson time. 

The couch jumping occurred after we let the kids have strawberry milk. 

We took all 3 kids to Chuy's (brave, right?) and surprisingly, they were FANTASTIC. All of them. And the food was delish.

This might be my favorite picture! My family is obsessed with all things Mexican food. Maddie has always been too but now she's into queso as well. LOVED it. So, she may look like daddy but she's got some mommy in her!!

We took a quick trip to Costco.

Madeline instead on bringing Charlotte Maynah Maynah to Costco. Yes, her doll's name is Charlotte Maynah Maynah. No, I don't have any idea why. 

On the way home from Costco, Sydney got REAL upset. Couldn't figure it out until we got her out of her car seat. Oh.

Maddie had her first "Ants on a Log."

Chris was holding Sydney and she just totally bit the dust. Tired tired little girl!

The BIG Thaw.

The news has been calling this week the BIG THAW because the temp has gotten above freezing. FINALLY!!

We went to the library for story hour this week. It was great! WE sang, we blew bubbles and played with a parachute. Maddie really enjoyed it. Her new friend, William, was there. I caught Maddie trying to hold his hand so I went to take a picture. Then they got all embarrassed!

Everyone thought they were siblings b/c they actually look very similar!

Then we spent some time outside! I bundled Sydney up and put her in the swing. She LOVED it.

 

Sydney is only five months but is in 6-9 month clothes! She's a growing girl. I thought having two girls would be great for the clothes situation, but it turns out my seasons might be off since Sydney is growing differently than Maddie. Guess I'll have to go shopping....

She is SUPER close to rolling from her back to her belly. She gets everything over except her last arm. She sits pretty well in the bumbo so it shouldn't be too long before she can sit unsupported I think. My big girl! 

Busy week!

SATURDAY

Last week, my niece Quinn, turned one. We celebrated on Saturday and had a great time!

Maddie had so much fun making sand art!

Next up was the piñata. She had never seen/hit one before. So, it was very surprising to her when she hit the final blow and it crashed to the floor!

She was a little surprised at first, but once she saw the mad scramble for candy, she hopped right in!

Always a good time in Lexington!

MONDAY

On Mondays, the girls go to their nana and grandpa Hughes's house. They always have a lot of fun! Maddie skipped out on a nap that day and we learned (again) that she still needs a daily rest. We live less than a mile from them, but she totally passed out on the short trek home.

I say "again" because we've been trying to take Maddie off a nap. We test it every few months and she still needs it! I'm not sure when she'll break that habit...I mean I'm 30 and STILL love a good nap!

THURSDAY

On Thursday, we started Sydney on cereal! She has started waking up hungry in the middle of the night so we thought we'd try it out. I figured she'd be a little weirded out by it, but she GOBBLED it up. And loved it!!

FRIDAY

Friday was Valentine's day so I had breakfast with my two little Valentine's while daddy worked.

Maddie went to school for a few hours for her class Valentine's party.

That night, we ate spaghetti at home and then went to Graeter's. 

SATURDAY

 Maddie got her first hair cut! 

That night, Daddy and I celebrated six wonderful years at Corbett's. Our meal was a little adventurous (we had a pork belly appetizer and Chris got a rack of boar for dinner) but delicious! And we really enjoyed the peaceful meal with just each other!

Chris drinking the "drink of love" that they gave us to toast our anniversary with. It tasted like a

liquid red hot.

SUNDAY

Tia and I took Maddie to All About Kids for Open Gym. You have the run of the entire facility so Madeline spent most of the time preparing for the Olympics on the gymnastics equipment.

And, finally, we closed the weekend giving Sydney a cereal facial! 

Whew! Are you tired? Because we were! Always busy in the Hughes house!
