Kicking off the holiday weekend!

Thursday night, I had my monthly GNO with my best girls from work. We hit up Sidebar downtown which was delicious. Maddie and daddy went to their usual, EarthFare.

Maddie did some shopping.

On Friday, Chris took the day off work and spent the morning getting the rest of the lumber for his bar he's building in the basement (pics coming soon!). Then, when I got off work (I only work until 11 on Fridays), we headed up to the outlet mall. He desperately needed some new work pants. It was a great afternoon, just us. We had quick lunch and then did some shopping.  I tired pretty easily but I guess being 36 weeks pregnant will do that to a girl!

Nana picked Maddie up from school so we were able to stop and have dinner at one of my favorite downtown spots: Doc Crow's. It was really great to have just some Chris and Britt time!
Chris's oysters. EEEEE.

More my speed...
Pulled pork tacos and nachos, along with some hush puppies. YES, PLEASE.

On Saturday we headed over to Kyle and Danielle's house to help them move. I was in charge of the kiddos.

Madeline was painting Hudson's leg and they were cracking up.

Spaghetti for supper tonight and then hopefully an ice cream treat for dessert! Not sure what Sunday and Monday entail but I'm looking forward to the extra time with my family!

BABY SPRINKLE!!

My BFF, Danielle, and sister in law, Laura, let me know a few weeks ago that they wanted to throw a 'sprinkle' for baby Sydney. A sprinkle is kind of the new trend, in the world of baby showers. Basically, it's a little celebration that friends throw for moms having their second (or third!) baby. Every baby should be celebrated, right?!

And what, you may ask, did Madeline do while the ladies were lunching? Her and daddy spent the morning at Lowe's and Cabela's!

I am really blessed with great friends and family! Laura and Danielle treated everyone to lunch at this wonderful cafe, Emma Lou's, and we spent a few hours talking, laughing and celebrating the newest little miracle soon to join our family!

Cafe on Bardstown Road

I wish I had a picture of my food- it was DELISH!

Party favors

Desserts!

And, of course, Sydney got some great gifts! She stocked up on diapers, wipes, bath wash and lotion which was just perfect!! I got some practical things from Danielle (she is really good at reading my hints!) Sydney also got some adorable hair bows and some books. And...

How great is this storage ottoman?

I know. SO SWEET.

I don't even know what to do with so much cuteness.

My friend's cousin made these! LOVE!

I took a group shot of my friends, but haven't gotten it off Laura's camera yet and now she's on vacation (but I am NOT jealous.) So I'll get it soon and post it. I have the BEST friends and family. Thank you to everyone who came to celebrate our newest addition.

Me with the hostesses!  Thanks so much ladies!!!

Announcement! Baby Girl Two has a Name!

Well, we finally decided! And, not a moment too soon. I am officially 35 weeks pregnant, and I look every bit of it!! This week I have heard:

"I can tell your face is swelling."

and

"There is no way you're going to make it full term."

and

"That baby has DROPPED."

and

"There must be twins in there."

(To that man I say, SLEEP WITH ONE EYE OPEN TONIGHT!)

But, I digress.

We wanted to incorporate some family names into baby girl so we went with Chris's grandfather's name and my dad's mother's middle name. And it's beautiful!

SYDNEY MARIE!

Do you love it? Because we do.

While I'm kind of tired of being pregnant (why does red wine sound SOOOO good? and why do I feel like I wear the same clothes ALL the time?) I am not totally ready to have two kids. Life is going to be so wild at first. I cannot wait and I can, all at the same time!

In the meantime, we are squeezing in all the activities we can before life gets hectic (and even more wonderful!)

Date night at the Bourbon and Wine Festival, an annual charity event my dad organizes.

Weekend Wrap-Up

Mercedes was home for one week before heading to Georgetown for her Senior Year. We had a goodbye cook-out for her on Saturday.

Maddie loves when her cousins come over!

Mid-way through the party, Maddie changed into her Belle costume. She cannot get enough of dresses these days!

On Sunday we had another cook-out...this time with Kyle, Danielle and Hudson. They are in the process of buying a house 5 minutes from us and we ARE SO EXCITED. It's a foreclosure so there are still a lot of outstanding questions that remain. Here's hoping they get through the inspection easily!

Because, honestly, how can you keep these two apart?

Sitting in the same chair. (Yes, there were other empty chairs).

Eating on the same side of the table.

No words needed!!

Practicing for baby sister!

Madeline is gearing up to be the big sister in the house! She has been feeding and changing her Baby Alive every night!

 Hmm. We'll keep working.

On Friday after school we went to the park. Madeline always flocks to the things that make me the most nervous.

Tia brought us home a bunch of souvenirs for Costa Rica, including this hammock.

So much fun swinging!

Birthdays!

My sister turned 21 while she was in Costa Rica so we just got to celebrate this past weekend.

We went to the usual place and she wore her usual outfit. (Legit, she has worn this same outfit on her birthday 3 straight years.)

Speaking of outfits, I'm a little angry that everyone let me out of the house looking like a whale. The stripes were cute up until the third trimester. Putting this one away until after baby girl arrives.

The Melting Pot.

We took a few pictures of me and Chris but none are blog worthy. He looked like he had this epic bowl cut in a few of them and I looked evil in the rest. I couldn't change my appearance but he got a hair cut the next day.

While we were at The Melting Pot, Kyle and Danielle watched Maddie for us. She, of course, had a blast!!

Killin' it on vocals while Hudson rocks out.

Bath!! I thought Danielle had strategically placed items here, but she said she didn't. The kids were pouring water on each other and thought it was hilarious!

So fun!

When we picked her up she didn't want to leave. She asked if Hudson could come home with her. Thanks to our friends for letting us enjoy our dinner. Something about hot fondue pots and a 2.5 year old don't mesh well.

Madeline's favorite ice cream is Graeter's. (obviously) Our friend Dave gave her this shirt. Thanks Dave!!

Today is grandpa Hughes's birthday. We went to the Fish Market and it was so yummy! I didn't get any pictures, but we're doing the actual celebrating with everyone in a few weeks at Captain Quarters so I'm sure I'll get some then. Happy birthday Grandpa Hughes! We love you!

Too young for a boyfriend?

Maddie was so excited when daddy got home on Friday!

We asked him to take us to Graeter's after dinner....he cannot resist us! (Boy, is he going to be in trouble with a wife and two daughters!!)
 Chocoholic.

On Saturday, we met up with Maddie's main squeeze at the park. She was so jazzed to see her boo and to get to splash some more.

This picture is cracking me up. She came FLYING down the slide.

Let's hold hands--this ride is wild!

Sneaking a kiss.

Rebuff me, Hudson and I'll move on!

They kind of remind me of Abercrombie models, minus 15 years.

Until next time, friend!!
