"I don't want to hear my sister cry." AKA Sydney's 18 month check-up

On Wednesday, Sydney had her 18 month check-up.
Headed in for her check-up. And her Hepatitis A shot. Like a boss.

That was the last picture I got of her at the ped's office. Because she was all over that exam room. Dr. Trace was laughing because Sydney was so active and wild and Maddie just did this quietly.

Sydney Stats
Weight: 24 lbs (68%)
Height: 31 in (23%)

Dr. Trace was really happy with her growth. I was concerned about Sydney's speech but our doctor really wasn't. We made a list of what Sydney says (she's in the 15-25 word range) and she felt like that was perfectly acceptable. Because Sydney is meeting all of her other milestones (can understand commands, knows body parts) she thinks we need to continue just working with her on her speech. We are going to try to sign a bit more with her too. I was a late talker and Maddie was a bit on the late side so we just press on.

Then it was time for her Hepatitis A shot. Her last shot until she's four. WOOHOO!! When the nurse came in, I kid you not, Maddie looked up from her coloring and said, "I don't want to hear my sister cry. Can I go out in the hall?" HAHAHA. So of course they took her out.

Sydney got her shot like a champ and Maddie came back in. With about 10 huge stickers and a sucker. The nurses love her. Granted, my kids are in that office about 3x as much as most families so they probably just know us better.

After the check-up, we headed to Chik Fil A for lunch and a little play time.
Sydney is getting really brave heading into the tunnels.

Since Maddie was so well behaved at the doctor and ate all of her lunch I told her she could trade in her toy for a small ice cream. She went and waited in line all by herself.
 Big girl!

We stopped at the park on the way home.

Then, Maddie had a dance class so we headed to All About Kids. We got there a few minutes early so Maddie ran around in the Fun Zone for a bit with her friend Amelia who is there each week. I was playing with Sydney when I realized Maddie was missing. I finally found them at the top of the slide talking with each other like teenagers.

Once Maddie went into class, Sydney took over the Fun Zone. She's usually the youngest there but walks around like she owns the place.

And tonight starts tournament play for the Wildcats! We are excited to go for Championship number 9!

Here comes the sun!

Goodness, it is GORGEOUS today. On Wednesday, the sun poked out and Maddie freaked out. As soon as we got home from morning errands she put on her bathing suit. And no, it was not warm enough for a swim suit, but I am pretty certain kids don't get cold.

We washed my car and before I knew it...

She was bringing her water toys and sprinkler out!

Soaking up the sun!

Sydney still isn't talking much but she understands everything you say to her. She just doesn't always obey. At dinner the other night, she put her little foot on the table. I said, "Sydney please get your foot off the table." She looked me square in the eye and then put her other foot on the table. Then she laughed at me.

And she stayed like that long enough for me to get a picture. I mean seriously!

Saturday was a morning of errands.
With a little bookstore stop.

Squeezed together at Lowe's!

I told Maddie I would take her for a big girl's lunch and she chose Steak and Shake.

This happened.
Well, not entirely. We share a little and then take the rest home with daddy.

On Sunday, the warm weather continued. We met up with K and D at the zoo and enjoyed a fun morning!

Welcome Spring! Won't you please stay??

A Museum Play Date

On Sunday we met up with our besties at the Science Center. We had a great morning!!

These two crack me up!!

So do these two!
I think Sydney is a little mad that Sloane has more hair. HA!

Sydney and I photo bombed the love birds!

At one point Maddie and Hudson had run on and Danielle and I had to rally up the daddies.
They attempted to build this bridge for ever. Until Sydnado came barreling through and knocked it over for good!

Loving on baby Sloane.

We had a great morning at the museum with a yummy lunch after. Then it was time to head for home and naps for everyone! That time change is a killer!

Snowmageddon….Again.

On Tuesday, we were at the ER with Sydney. On Wednesday, I sent Maddie to preschool (she normally stays home with me) so that I could focus on our littlest girl. We had a pretty good day snuggling. It was nice to have some one on one time with Sydney, even if she was still a little under the weather.

Around 4 pm, it started snowing.
And then, it didn't stop. It snowed all night. On Thursday we woke up to a TON of snow. Over the weekend, the last of the first blizzard melted. And now, we were covered again. Of course, both preschool and daycare were closed.

Chris and I were both working from home so we rotated our meetings in and out of playing with the girls. In the afternoon, the hand plow came back out.

Maddie helped for a bit but then found burying Stella to be more fun.
Stella loved the snow!

Even Sydney girl was feeling good enough to get outside for a bit.
In the battle of Sydney vs. her gloves, Sydney won. So I took her inside shortly after.

The snow was still very powder-y so we couldn't build a snowman or sled (yet.) That night, Maddie was putting up her best bedtime battle. She told us the only thing that would make her go to sleep was big panda. So….
She's the little head on the left. Big panda is, well, everywhere else, on her bed. :)

On Friday, I took the monkeys to All About Kids to blow of some steam.

Maddie shouted, " Look at me! I'm practicing my gymnastics." I was pretty impressed. She hopped right up there and held herself up while she swung back and forth.

And! Sydney girl climbed the big slide all by herself. Notice Madeline and her buddy Amelia at the top cheering her on!

On Saturday, I went to Pure Barre while Chris played with the girls.

He took them to Cabela's and they sat very nicely in the cart while he leisurely shopped.
 Or not.

We met up after my class at Barnes and Noble.

After lunch with my parents, Sydney and daddy went home for a nap while Maddie and I went grocery shopping. Since she had her own cart, the trip took a sweet forever a little longer than normal. We went up and down every aisle.

That night Maddie FINALLY got to build her snowman. She'd been wanting to but the snow hadn't really been good building material. On Saturday, it was just right!

Nana was keeping Dane and Quinn so the cousins had some play time.

After baths, the little cousins snuggling with grandpa.

On Sunday we went to the museum with Hudson and Sloane and now we are all winding down from a busy week and weekend. And, the best part, is that our sweet Sydney is back to her normal self.
