Fun Friday and BUSY weekend!

Friday was the first day of my new work schedule. I worked four hours...it was FABULOUS! I worked 7-11 and then had a few hours before Madeline woke up from nap at daycare. I did some house things (returned the cable box & remote, changed our address at the post office, etc) and then went and got Madeline.

I took her to the Science Center downtown and it was a HUGE hit. I only was able to get a few pictures because I spent the majority of the time running after her! The Museum itself is geared towards older kids, but they have one section (and it's pretty big) specifically for kids under 7. Madeline spent most of her time in the raincoat (they have all sizes) splashing at the water section. She was SOAKED!

They also have a market with carts and food, a huge school bus that sings, an ambulance, a space ship, coloring and crafts, mailboxes for kids to deliver mail to, a place to climb, a place to build, a place to dress-up, etc, etc. I don't even know if we saw everything b/c Madeline mainly rotated between the water and pushing her baby around in the shopping cart. I'll bring Chris next time and get more pics. She could have played all day. The museum is getting an even bigger children's exhibit at the end of the month and I cannot wait to take her back.

Also on Friday, I took Madeline for her hearing test. She passed with flying colors. The tubes have made a world of difference on her. I'm so happy that she hasn't had an ear infection since. She'd basically had a lasting infection from 5 months to 13 months so this has been such a relief. A little pic from the audiologist's office...how cool is this bus?

I love my new schedule and love that I get to spend more time with Madeline. It's also nice to have a day that I know I can schedule appointments on. This Friday, we're closing on the house! FINALLY. We packed and cleaned ALL weekend. And I literally mean all day Saturday and majority of Sunday. The house is empty now. It's a little sad, but we are so excited for the next house. While we build, we are staying at nana and grandpa Hughes's house. They are so sweet to let us stay. I know it's an adjustment for them and we are so grateful that they accepted our big ball of crazy into their house!

Happy Monday!

A post from Maddie for Mother's Day

Today is Mother's Day - the day you should celebrate your mommy! I'm giving my mom a break from blogging today and taking my turn at it. Here's what I've been up to this week:

Mommy bought me some gogurt but she made me eat my first one naked. I heard her tell daddy, "I'd rather not oxy-clean blue raspberry out." Whatever that means. It was awesome!

I made this face right before I pooped in the bathtub. Mommy and daddy both screamed! In case you're wondering, that's macaroni on my face.

Mommy let me play at Pottery Barn Kids this weekend. I love that place! They have a lot of construction going on so they have no floor right now. At first I squatted while I played...

But then I decided to just sit on the floor. I knew I was going to get messy making my cake!

Mommy has a new work schedule where she leaves early on Friday. She told me we can go on fun adventures every Friday when she picks me up from school. This week, we went to the library and played checkers. I also pulled 6 books off the shelf but got in trouble. Whoops.

This is a picture of my Stella. Normally she is really wild, like me. She is worn out in this picture, though.

Happy Mother's Day to my mommy! Also, Happy Mother's Day to my grandma and my nana and my great-grandma! I love you all!!

A new toy!

Another great weekend in the books!

On Saturday, we went to a tile shop to start picking out tile and bathroom layouts for the new house. And, what I mean is, I chased Madeline around the tile store while Chris talked to a designer.

Madeline carrying her purse around--wouldn't let it go!

Madeline would get in and out of one of the showers and scream as loud as she could. I'm not sure why...but she really enjoyed doing it.

On Saturday, we watched the derby with Kyle and DAnielle, who just had baby Hudson. Madeline loved Hudson. She kept saying "hi baby!" and trying to get him to play with her.

On Sunday, daddy set up Maddie's water table. (I won't say how long it took him!) She loved it!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Always on the go!

I am finding it harder and hard to take pictures of sweet Madeline because she is ALWAYS on the go!!

Her and Dane sat still for about 6 seconds....then both wiggled off the chair to go run!

Showing daddy exactly what she wanted for her new house at Lowes. She knows what she likes.

So I have the one child who always is on the move. Then I have the other one...who, well, she is just always in trouble! The other night we were on the couch and could hear her chewing on something. When I went to see, she faked being "asleep" and tried to act like she wasn't doing anything mischievous. Do you see what's wrong with this picture?!  She was clearly eating my shoe and then tried to pretend like she wasn't!

In other news, our pod is being delivered in 15 short days. That's not a lot of time. We'll be busy, busy, busy getting everything ready. We have some great friends coming to help us load up all of the heavy stuff - moving day will be here before we know it!  Happy Tuesday!

A great week in Atlanta!

This weekend I traveled to Atlanta with my family to tape Family Feud. We had an incredible experience-it was so neat to see how the show was taped. Being an actress is tough work! We had a couple of long days at the studio- production issues delayed and prolonged some of the taping- and I can honestly say I'm EXHAUSTED! Such an emotional roller coaster! I cannot say anything other than we did a taping. (And I can promise you'll have a couple of laughs at our expense!) I'll post later about air dates when I get them.

Thanks SO much to my best work girlfriends for making the trip. It was SO nice of you all!  I am so blessed to work with such great people!

Dinner with my gals at Julio's

I also had a lot of phone calls and texts from friends back home--thanks so much for the support! We really appreciated all of the warm wishes.

The hardest part of the week was leaving sweet Madeline in KY. She had a BLAST staying at her nana and grandpa's! Thanks so much for watching her for us!  I could not wait to get home and see her sweet face. I had taken this picture of her right before I left and I kept looking at it while I was away. How cute is she?!

Keeping up with the Hughes'

So, first of all. I've been married four years and I'm still never quite sure the grammatically correct way to use my married name in the possessive tense. Is it Hughes's? Hughes'? Hugheses? I guess I don't feel too bad; I just asked Chris whose had the name his whole life and he wasn't sure either! Ha. TARA MCKINLEY--I know you'll know!

***In other news***

We've recently taken a trip to crazy-town! We have been busy, busy, busy! First, we sold our house! We've still had to keep it clean for the inspector, the appraiser, the radon tester, etc, etc. With a very active 16 month old and a wild shedding Golden, it's not that easy to just keep it clean in between visits. I would say it takes about 7 minutes for our completely clean house to turn into a disaster. We usually put Madeline to bed and then try to get as much cleaned and packed up as we can before we get too exhausted and go to bed.

In between selling our house, my family got chosen to go on Family Feud. While I've been cleaning, I've also been preparing for the questions by watching the daily episodes and quizzing myself. Who knows...this might lead into a reality show for my silly family! I think we've got a great team and I'm looking forward to heading to Atlanta soon to tape the show!

As for Madeline....well she makes us laugh every day. She's picked up several new words, and is continuing her quest for complete independence. She basically refuses any help with eating, no matter how liquid-y. Yogurt, applesauce, etc, she doesn't want ANY help eating it. Evidenced below, after dinner at my mom's tonight.

Madeline also is in her first contest! She is entered into The Oldham Era's Relay for Cuteness fundraiser. Votes cost a quarter and all proceeds go to cancer research. Here is her submission.

Next up: Toddlers and Tiaras. Or, maybe I'll get to be on Dance Mom's. Hmm. PSYCH!

The next few weeks are going to be FULL for us, but I'll do my best to keep blogging. We close in 6 weeks and have lots to do! Happy Monday!

Easter Weekend

We had a great Easter weekend in Lexington!

Madeline loved spending time with her cousin. We took the kids to Monkey Joes which has bounce houses and toys. Madeline stayed in the "3 and under" section and loved it. Here she is riding her first carousel.

Dane also took Madeline on her first Jeep ride. It was hilarious. She LOVED it. I see a Barbie Hot Wheels in her future!

Having a little "engine trouble". Dane likes to pop out and look at his engine every 100 feet or so.

Easter morning!

This isn't a great picture of Maddie and I, but you get a full view of her dress.

Thanks to Laura for hosting everyone for Easter dinner. It was wonderful!

Happy Easter!!
