Easter 2018

When Maddie turned 7 she asked to get her ears pierced for her birthday.

She was pretty nervous but she did it ... and they look so good on her!

Maddie seems so much older to me lately. At her girl scout meeting, they made a coupon book to demonstrate kindness. She loved doing acts of kindness around the house and having me redeem her coupons!
Doing the dishes!

We went to see the Kenwood Station Talent Show that night.

The next morning Sydney's preschool had a fun carnival. We had a great time playing all of the games together!

 Sydney's teacher Mrs. Stephanie.

(Maddie was home with a tummy ache) Sydney and I went to gymnastics next.

She is always UPSIDE DOWN. Or hanging off something. Or swinging off something. ALL. THE. TIME.

We had a surprise day off of school the Friday before Spring Break. We had lunch with our neighbors at CFA.

That night we had friends over to dye Easter Eggs.

On Easter, we headed to Lexington to celebrate with Dane and Quinn!

Happy Easter!

He is risen! He is risen, indeed.

MARCH MADNESS!

Ok, so it's really March Madness around here! And I'm not talking about the fact that UK is in the sweet sixteen with a great look for the Final Four, after having a less than mediocre season.

We kicked off the month with a trip to the Bahamas! (Well, 2 of the Hughes 4 did)

I talked with the resort GM ahead of time to let him know that I was coming and was hoping for a resort tour for future clients...AND y'all...he sent a Rolls Royse to pick us up. Chris was BESIDE HIMSELF.

We could not believe the villa we were given with this private area outside of it.
We enjoyed this private area outside of our villa.
We shared this area with a few other rooms, but there was hardly ever anyone there!

We had an amazing week away. We got a little fancy...

We tried our fair share of beverages...

We went out on the town...

(Full disclosure. We only went out a few nights. Other nights we relished in getting the sleep we don't get at home!)

We just enjoyed being together!

Cheers Sandals Royal Bahamian! We missed you and can't wait to come back!

While we were gone, our girls were being loved on by their grandparents. They spent several nights at each set and were, of course, totally spoiled rotten.

That's not to say that they weren't happy to have us home!

Life quickly returned to normal. I helped with leprechaun trap building for Maddie's class.

We got a super late, super random 7 inches of snow and had (another) snow day.

Stella was outside ALL day in it.

We went to a fun new play place with our neighbors on teacher work day.

Having so much fun!

Lunch with friends.

Now we wrap up March and look forward to Spring Break!!

The Stomach Bug Strikes!!!!

Last week, I surprised Maddie and had lunch with her. She always loves surprise lunch dates!

As I left that day (Wednesday) I talked with the office admin. I was telling her that we'd been so lucky and other than a mild case of Flu A for Sydney, we'd had a great Winter. WHY DID I DO THAT?!

This was how the very NEXT day went.

3:45 PM: Sydney's school calls. She's thrown up everywhere
4:05 PM: Maddie and I walk in Sydney's school. Maddie throws up everywhere

Teacher: That's the same spot her sister threw up in.

4:07 PM: Sydney throws up in my car.

And then, it went ON and ON until 9 PM. The girls laid on the floor in the living room and rotated vomiting in their respective trash cans. It was a violent little thing.

We finally got them both to sleep in the living room (I slept on the couch) where they slept all night. They woke up pretty perky, all things considering. But, obviously I wasn't about to start the next Outbreak, so we stayed home and rested all day.

My mom is a saint and came to watch the girls at my house (in her mask, but still!) so Chris and I could go on our neighborhood date night. One couple had to back out last minute but we had such a great time with Anna and Brian. We did a Breakout room and then had dinner together.

The girls were feeling much better so over the weekend we did a little girls trip to get manicures and pedicures!

Soaking up this last week with them before Chris and I head to the Bahamas to celebrate our ten year anniversary!!

Curls and Cousins!

While at Walmart one day, I picked up a pack of sponge curlers. Maddie slept in them one night and the results were so pretty! She loved her hair.

So much so, that then Sydney wanted her hair in curlers too.

My two curly sues! They have been sleeping in curlers a few times a week. It's actually simpler than brushing out the tangles in the morning, believe it or not. I just unroll the curlers and we go!

We had a cousin filled weekend! Cousin Adelyn had her 8th birthday party at All About Kids and the girls had a great time swimming!

Maddie had a sleepover with her friend Claire - they looked so sweet coming home the next morning.
Funny story - we have walkie talkies that work so the girls spend a lot of time "talking" to each other.

It was Maddie's 100th Day of School! She dressed as herself at 100 years old!

Cousins Dane and Quinn came to town and we had a yummy supper at Gustavo's followed by some play time.

Chris and I celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary too! But more on that later because...we're going to the Bahamas!!

Wrapping up January!

I mentioned in the last post I flew down to Florida for a long weekend with the travel agency. It was a retreat for Senior Agents. We got to have a fun weekend trying new restaurants, visiting new hotels, and playing. I flew down but actually rode back with my sister. She was down there working for the week (she likes to work every couple of months to retain her cast member benefits.) I figured it would be a nice fun ride home chatting having some sister bonding time.

Or not. She's actually under the blanket sleeping. That was fine.

I did the same thing a bit later. We understand each other.

While I was playing researching, Chris was back home with the girls. They loved having him back!

We had a somewhat warm day and jumped on the trampoline for a bit. The static was REAL.

We've been playing lots of games right now. Current favorites are Headbands and Fibber.

And, of course, lots of gymnastics. Sydney is usually upside down more than she is right side up!

Big weekend planned with lots of fun things on the agenda!
