This and That...

There's not really a theme to this post - just a catch-up of what's been going on with my crew.

Maddie and I went shopping and she loved seeing a pic Hudson and family. They are in an advertisement at the Paddock and Maddie thought it was the coolest thing!

We bought a coconut at Kroger and cracked it, in an attempt to get the coconut milk out. We had read on a blog how kids loved doing this. Well, the kids loved cracking it...

But, the inside looked SUPER funky and the milk/juice wasn't that yummy.

We had the last of our summer popsicles out on the porch with our neighbors.

I picked Maddie up from school and we got a pink Gigi's cupcake...after the flu shot. Sydney got her shot at her well-check so I took Maddie separately. She was not happy with me, but only cried a few tears. When I told her she could pick any cupcake she wanted, she cheered right up!

I go into the office about once a month. This month my department took a lunch cruise on the Spirit of the Jefferson. We had a great afternoon!

Pretty view!

Maddie and Sydney had dental visits. This was Sydney's first visit so she sat in my lap. She did amazing, much better than I anticipated. She got all of her teeth cleaned and had no cavities!

Maddie did everything on her own.

Maddie came home from school one day and did her usual routine - a snack and the Kindle. She needs some mellow time before talking to me about her day. One day I walked out of my office and she was knocked out! This was the first day this has happened since school began.

I'm so glad Maddie is adjusting so well to Kindergarten. I am also thankful for my Fridays with this little monkey.

This weekend I went to the Y for a run. I didn't get all of my miles complete before Kids Club closed so Maddie joined me on the track. She loved it!

That night at dinner, Maddie became the green bean monster and wanted a picture.

So, monkey see, monkey do....little Sister became the pear monster.

And that's life lately!

Zoo day with grandma! And a wild golf cart ride!

On Saturday morning we had a girls day at the zoo
with grandma.

We did all of our usual favorites!

The train!

The carousel!

Fit in the gorilla mold!

They had started setting up for the Halloween party so we enjoyed taking a few pictures.

Humana family!

Sunday, the funniest thing happened. We were planning to go to my aunt's house for lunch. We stopped first at Cabela's. Normally I stay in the car but since the girls wanted to see the fish we went in. And...it was LADIES DAY. So, we got all kinds of swag. I got a gift card and a bag of Cabela's branded products (chapstick, playing cards, etc). The girls got bouncy balls, bracelets, etc. Chris used my gift card on a new knife...so I guess we all came out winners. Ha! The best part was that the Kentucky Network of Outdoor Women was there signing up women for their club. They asked me what my favorite activity was. My options were advanced fishing, rifle shooting, hunting, etc. The only thing I could think of was shopping at an outlet mall.

But I said fishing.

And now they keep emailing me about joining the club. Um, no.
 The girls with their loot!

My aunt just did a huge remodel of her house so we went to see it and have lunch. Us older gals took her golf cart for a spin...

And things got a little hairy. On one hill she legit said, "It's hit or miss on this one."

What a fun weekend with family!

Tiger Trek!

Last Thursday, Madeline's school had their biggest fundraiser - Tiger Trek! Madeline raised money (from us and her grandparents!) and walked the high school track. I took the day off to run some errands and visit her during the trek.

All smiles ready to "warm-up!"

Jumping jacks!

The kids took!

One loop in and feeling great!

Two loops in and getting pretty tired!

Stripes greeted the girls at the finish line. It was about 90 degrees outside and I was very worried Stripes was going to suffer heat stroke, but he survived.

We had a great time at the track. Maddie did a mile total and it wore her out! There was music and popsicles to celebrate with after the Trek. The school was raising money for new iPads for technology class. Lots of fun!

Sydney's Birthday Party!

Took me a bit to get Chris's camera photos, but we're all set now!

Last week we had Sydney's birthday party at the house, which meant a week before that I had to do some prep work.

On day 2 of water balloon prep my garage looked like this. By the time the party came I had double that! Plus some of those balloons that fill and auto-tie.

The day before we picked up Syd's cookie cake. I told her she could see it but she could NOT touch it. Well, in an effort to help me close the box, she fell on it.

We set up our mini pool and blow-up in the backyard, ordered some pizza and let the kids run wild!

We started off with some yummy pizza.

The water balloon fight was a hit-but man, it goes quick!

Sydney wasn't into the water balloon fight but she liked cleaning the popped balloons up!

Both of my kids love to clean - it's the weirdest thing. And it definitely isn't something they got from me. :)

Funny story, almost 2 years ago I bought a Tinkerbell piƱata on sale. Sydney's party was ten months away but it was such a good deal I bought it and stored it. We filled it up for her 2nd birthday party....and then forget to do it! So I had to store it for ANOTHER year. Chris was happy I remembered it this year. #hoarder

We got the kids lined up.

Sydney went first because it was her special day. Then, the other kids went in age order.

Then we finished with some cookie cake!

Sydney liked it.

Thanks SO much to our family and friends who celebrated our little Sydney Marie with us!
