13 Weeks: Baby is a peach!

So, I've finally hit the second trimester! Very exciting. I'm really hoping the nausea and fatigue start to subside now. I think Chris is too. It cannot be fun watching me sleep and run to the bathroom so much! He did all of the laundry this weekend and cleaned the house- what a super husband! On second thought, maybe I'll keep this up...

Last week, my mom and I went to my 12 week screening ultrasound. Everything looked pretty good to the tech, but I'll get my full results later this week. I cannot wait to find out if its a boy or girl- August seems so far away!

A friend at work gave me the Your Pregnancy: Week by week book so Chris and I are starting to read that together. This week the baby is the size of a peach!

Thanks to both sets of our parents and siblings for the kind gifts already given to Baby Hughes- Chris and I are blessed with wonderful families! We'll probably start cleaning the soon-to-be nursery out this weekend and its exciting that we already have a few things for baby!

We're having a baby!

I debated about starting a blog but thought it might be a fun way to keep track of my first pregnancy!

I found out I was pregnant about ten minutes before leaving for a baby shower. In my head I'd imagined all these great ways that I would surprise Chris when it happened, but I was so shocked and happy that I just ran downstairs and blurted it out. He jumped up from the table (he was working) and said to me, "Are you serious?" It was a pretty special moment.

We had our first appointment at 6 weeks 3 days and were told the baby's due date is 1/1/11. Leave it to Chris and I to have a baby with our birthday between his (12/28) and mine (1/7). A lot is at stake here- perhaps we'll have the first baby born of the new year and will be on the news! Ha.

We finally told our families this weekend- it is SUCH a relief for the secret to be out. We decided to wait for a few reasons: partially because we were still getting used to everything ourselves, partially because we wanted to tell our families around the same time, and partially because we thought Father's Day would be a great day to celebrate the news!

I'm still new to the blog world, but I'll post some pics soon!
