Fourth of July Festivities!

We had a great Fourth of July with our friends and neighbors! A few things first...

During Sydney's Kindergarten eye exam, we went ahead and did an exam for Maddie. I was watching her watching Sydney. She seemed really surprised that Sydney could see and identify so many letters in the chair. She finally came over and whispered to me that she couldn't see.

So, it was no surprise, when our optometrist said it was time for little miss to get a pair of glasses. She was so excited (and Sydney was so jealous!)

She looks pretty cute in them! She only has to wear them to see the board at school so we haven't gotten too much use of them yet.

We had a zoo day with our friends and had so much fun!

Maddie is little but man, she can be a work horse. I think all of those gymnastics conditioning sessions must be paying off!

We came home and had some water fun with another set of friends!

*******

We kicked things off on the 3rd with our friend's "little get together."  We knew better this year! Last year we were invited to a small party and it turned out to be massive. Multiple families inviting friends and sharing their backyard space. They had several inflatables, tons of food and a great fireworks show. It was a great combination of neighborhood and Kenwood families. Chris and I chatted with friends while the girls ran themselves ragged.

Maddie and sweet Karis. Karis has been one of Maddie's besties on the school bus the last two years. She's going in middle school (hence the heigh difference - haha!) and Maddie sure will miss her!

The next day we had lunch with K and D at nana and grandpa's pool. And...I failed to take any pictures. Sigh. Big blog fail. We had a blast though! We came home and headed straight back to our neighbors for their Fourth of July party.

Chris was getting in some puppy snuggles from Woodford...he didn't hate it.

More fireworks! (No joke, our neighborhood has some of the biggest fireworks lovers I've ever met)

I brought Syd home a little before Chris and Maddie and I told her I would snuggle with her. Except...after about 14 seconds she was OUT.
After two long fun days, girlfriend was beat. She slept until 9:30 the next day. I didn't even know what to do with myself.

On Friday, the girls had haircuts at Z Salon. At the age of almost 5, this was Sydney's FIRST haircut. (On account of her having approximately 59 hairs on her head!) She LOVED it.

Where was Maddie you ask? Well, poor thing woke up with a bellyache, which turned into a fever, which turned into a headache...

Which turned into STREP THROAT. Again. Twice in 2 months. Lovely. She was MISERABLE for 2 days but once we got our strep diagnosis and got her antibiotic, it didn't take long for her to bounce back to normal.

We've been spending lots of time in Norton Commons lately. Our good friends moved back there so we swim or eat with them quite a bit. They love on our girls so much!

On this particular night, Tara taught the girls what a Wet Willy was...and it totally backfired on her.

We're big fans of the gelato back there as well too!

Surprise, surprise: Sydney is going to Kindergarten!

When Sydney was born, we knew she would start Kindergarten in the fall of 2018. In 2017, our town changed the birthday requirements from an Oct 1 cut-off (you had to be 5 before Oct 1) to August 1. This meant Sydney (our Sept birthday gal) would now start in Fall 2019. They also said, however, they would test any child who was impacted by the change and possibly allow early admission.

We weren't gong to test Sydney. We struggled and wrestled with it but 3 days before the application to apply, we did. And she passed with flying colors! We talked to her daycare director, preschool teacher,  watched her playing with her Pre-K kids at school (where she's the youngest) and ultimately decided it would be good for her.

So, we've been quickly getting all of her forms together. We had her dental exam (no cavities!), her eye exam (she can see!) and her pediatrician physical (she is healthy and can hear!)

Maddie helping her scoot up to look through the lens.

We are so excited for Sydney and she is SO excited to go to school with Maddie and ride the bus. Chris and I joke that she maybe should come with a warning label - she's a spirited girl!

We had a family day at the zoo last weekend just the four of us - our first trip this year!

We found Tara, our favorite docent!

Sydney did not want a bird to land on her but Mads loved it!

This one started me by flying up and landing on me from behind. The girls thought it was a riot.

More ice cream nights with our neighbors!

Maddie's Girl Scout Meeting this month was at the library for their Kentucky Down Under show. They featured a hedgehog, baby turtle, mini crocodile and snake. The girls loved them all. I took pics from a far.

Our first attempt at a selfie was foiled by Sydney's foot.

We also celebrated Father's Day with our favorite daddy! We love you Chris!

School's Out for Summer!

We have wrapped up our first week of summer and fit in as much as we could!

We've had play dates with our neighbors!

We've played dress up!

We did some manicures and pedicures!

Sydney has been...Sydney.

We had a Girl Scout Pool Party.

Sydney thought it was awesome to spend time with Maddie's Daisy Troop.

We've had our first (but not our last!) Shiver Shack snow cones!

We've crafted.

We celebrated Brooke's birthday at a bowling party!

We've taken selfies.

Gearing up for week 2!

Celebrate Good Times!

A few weekends ago we celebrated Mother's Day, Father's Day, Laura's birthday, Dane's birthday and Maddie's half birthday. with Chris's family..in one weekend!

My nephew is NINE. Where does the time go?!

Cousins! This crew is thick as thieves and I just love it.

The next day, Maddie invited her school friends for an end of school year party.

We went to Gustavo's and told them it was her birthday (we never really celebrated in December) and she got the sombrero and song, complete with whip cream in her face!

At this point, it's June and our little Maddie is almost EIGHT. I can't even.
